Une série d’installations qui abritent un animisme numérique.

Les œuvres, du petit au grand format, offrent toutes une coïncidence finement organisée entre virtuel et matériel : dessins augmentés, dispositifs d’illusions holographiques, casques de réalité virtuelle, projections grande échelle. Elles donnent à vivre un ensemble de scénarios improbables qui tiennent à la fois du mirage et du miracle, qui jouent à la frontière entre le vrai et le faux, l’animé et l’inanimé, l’authentique et l’imposture, la magie, le merveilleux, et l’inouï.

Series of installations inhabited by digital animism.

Ranging from small to large-scale work, this corpus of installations offers a delicate coincidence between the virtual and the material using augmented drawings, holographic illusions, virtual-reality headsets, large-scale projections. It offers a unique ensemble of improbable scenarios that takes root in both the mirage and the miracle, and plays with the boundaries between true and false, the animate and the inanimate, the authentic and the deceptive, the magical, the wondrous, and the indescriptible.

We have begun field testing the Spot robot for commercial usage around the world. After an initial mapping run, Spot autonomously navigated two dynamic construction sites in Tokyo and used a specialized payload for surveying work progress. An additional camera in its hand lets Spot do even more detailed inspection work on site. The Spot robot will be available in the second half of 2019 for a variety of applications.

An auxetic material is a material that exhibits a Negative Poisson’s Ratio (NPR). Unlike conventional materials, when an auxetic material is stretched (or compressed) in one direction, instead of becoming thinner (or thicker), it becomes thicker (or thinner) in perpendicular directions.



This project describes a group of auxetic-inspired material structures that can transform into various shapes upon compression. While the majority of the studies of auxetic materials focus on their mechanical properties and topological variations, our work proposes a parametric design approach that gives auxetic structures the ability to deform beyond shrinking or expanding for the first time. To do so, we see the auxetic structure as a parametric four-bar linkage. We developed four cellular-based material structure units composed of rigid plates and elastic/rotary hinges. Different compositions of these units lead to a variety of tunable shape-changing possibilities, such as uniform scaling, shearing, bending and rotating. By tessellating those transformations together, we can create various higher level transformations for design.
